GANG MOWERS

A gang mower is a system of multiple mowing units, typically 3, 5, or 7, joined together to create a wider cutting width, making it ideal for large areas like sports fields, parks, or golf courses where a single mower would be impractical. These mowers consist of multiple individual units, either reel or flail mowers, connected to a frame that allows them to be towed or driven by a tractor. Reel gang mowers use a series of reel blades similar to traditional lawnmowers, providing a precise cut, while flail gang mowers use flail blades, making them more suitable for rougher terrain or longer grass.

The primary advantage of gang mowers is their increased efficiency, as they significantly reduce mowing time for large areas. They are also versatile, capable of handling various terrains, from flat lawns to rolling hills, and are cost-effective compared to using multiple smaller mowers. However, they do require a tractor for operation and regular maintenance, including blade sharpening and adjustments. Additionally, while they perform best on relatively level or gently undulating surfaces, they may not be ideal for highly uneven terrain.

    • Shear blade – made of high boron steel rolled in the UK, cut, drilled, hardened to approx. 48 rock well straightened and ground to be true and flat. 
  • All steel gears, hardened as required housed in cast iron grease filled chamber. All components cast and machined from high specification irons. All running on taps or needle roller bearings ensuring long trouble-free service. 
  • The heavy weight of the units helps to create best possible traction on the turf. The smooth spiral of the blades ensures even cutting of the grass
  • Weight of each unit is approximately 200kgs
  • Height of cut controlled by cast iron brackets housing the rear roller
  • The Lloyds gang utilize 12 castings per unit and are built with no compromise on engineering specification.
